This is a map that shows the locations of 129 communes in San Francisco that participated in the Kaliflower intercommunal network from 1969 to 1972. The dataset for this map comes from articles, notices, and Free ads that appeared in Kaliflower during its 3+ year run. There were more than 300 communes in the Bay Area receiving Kaliflower when it ended publication in June, 1972 . These 129 were ONLY in SF and only those that identified themselves on the pages of this remarkable newsletter. Kaliflower was distributed for free and delivered by hand to groups of three or more adults who called themselves a commune.
